Children & Families

I have had the privilege of working with children and families since my clinical training in 2017.

Since this experience, I have come to respect the immense task of raising children in a way that completely changed my professional trajectory.

No family has the same story, and as such my approach is catered to case-by-case need. At its foundation my work is non-pathologizing, rooted in a deep awareness of attachment, its heritage, and the intergenerational patterns we see play out in family systems.

There is a beautiful paradox in using play as the tool to work through the inherent struggles of lineage and family life. Listening to children through play, lets a connection take place in their language and creates an entirely new landscape to engage with and process dynamics and difficulties.

The amount of authentic selfhood, resilience, capacity, and joy achieved through this approach, both in children and their parents, continues to surprise me.

In addition to my work with children and families in my private practice, I also ran a therapy practice at a Montreal elementary school from 2019- 2023. This experience has given me the opportunity to support children with a wide range of skills, needs and presenting struggles.

My services at the school offered interventions to help regulate their nervous systems and support their ability to notice and process their emotions. My incentive of this work was to provide students with the awareness and tools they needed so they could be available both for learning and the social and problem-solving elements that made up their school days.

Since the services are targeted for successful days at school, my work tended to focus less on the home and family environment. I therefore consider it an enormous privilege to welcome the home life of families and the stories parents hold of their children in my private practice.

Getting to work both with children and their parents is a highly effective and meaningful approach to supporting child development and familial well-being.

Services I combine to offer humanistic, personalized care include:

  • Individual child-led “special play time” therapy sessions

  • Parent & child dyad “special play time” therapy sessions

  • Parent consults & psycho-education

  • Parent therapy sessions to support the role of parent and partner

  • Parent support program and coaching to introduce parent & child “special play time” (filial play) in the home

*Please note that I am currently welcoming families with children aged 11 and up to my practice.
